Come on in
The "Korenkwartier", the entertainment area of Arnhem, is a piece with a lively history. This can be seen in the buildings that are located in this area. These all represent a certain time, such as the Lutheran Church from 1737 to the relative new construction as the Tin Cinema. All these different buildings and the atmospheres that they bring with them make the Korenkwartier what it is today.
Come on in consists of four works of art that together mark the entrances to the Korenkwartier Arnhem. For this we take the different building styles, and therefore the history of the Korenkwartier, as the starting point. The facades of four facades from the area are abstracted and converted into contours, so each entrance gets its own recognizable architectural style, an entrance that welcomes you to a special area of Arnhem. In addition to the work of art making the visitor aware of the urban quality of the area, they are also four markings at city level, a visual addition to the city.
The artworks protrude a bit from the streets so that they are easily recognizable from a distance and mark the access streets of the Korenkwartier. In addition to the day view, there is also a night view.
Winner open call artwork Korenkwartier, execution 2020.
